Family Session

I have some good friends who are going through a lot right now. Please pray for them if you think about it. The dad in this family has cancer and is likely at the end of his earthly life right now. Despite it all he is very encouraging. Knowing he is at the end has made it easier for him to prioritize. He takes time for his boys and to really teach them as well as quality time with his wife and friendships. Watching him makes it even more clear that the most important thing on this planet is the people we love. It's so easy to forget. To prioritize work, travel, checklists...you know...stuff. Ugh!! The distractions!

A mutual friend of ours had a brilliant idea to do something nice for this family. They purchased an a gift certificate from Dekaios Designs anonymously. It was so fun for me to call the family and tell them what they had been given!  The gift certificate provided a half hour family session and a large canvas for their wall, along with a few digital images and a print release.

I can only imagine how valuable this gift already feels to this family and how much more valuable it will be over the next few years. We made it a fun memory on a lovely evening, we all laughed, and memories were certainly captured. Sadly, with work schedules and chemo it was really hard to schedule, we ended up having to do this session on the fourth of July because it was a holiday so everyone had off work. It was a perfect day for it and no one was around. We met in an area with some red brick because it would match in the living room nicely and then we headed over to a water wheeled building from there.

It was  a great session and a marvelous gift idea. I would be so honored to do it again if anyone feels inclined.

I have to say, even with the hard stuff like cancer, or any disease, even just age. I LOVE MY JOB! I know I am doing a good thing. Life is so fleeting, even just our minds are fleeting. Photographs preserve things. There is such a purpose. It is so incredible and such a privilege. I am beyond thankful for the opportunities you (my readers, clients, and friends!) provide.
Thank you!
