MY family session
Monday was my birthday! I am so blessed in having so much that there is not much I ever ask for my birthday. But this year, for the first time ever, I asked for a family photo! My son is moving away to college, TOMORROW! So a photo is the best thing to capture the last of this chapter in our lives. Since we are on the edge of becoming empty nesters. Before being a photographer I didn't really know how or where to have a family photo taken, and my husband has never cooperated for a photo. After becoming a photographer I have tried many times to set the timer on my camera and take a good photo but my husband thinks it's funny to make this difficult (yes, my HUSBAND-not my son!). Here is an example...
The first photo is an older photo but it more seems like time just goes by too fast. Regardless, it was time to try again, so I asked my husband's friend who was over with his professional camera and the photo just above is what I got! So in honor of my birthday I hired Jen (From Jen's Len's). It was so good for me to be on the other side of the camera, it really helps me to know what you go through! It was also good for my husband, kept things going a little smoother.
A few days prior to the session I woke up in the night and tossed and turned trying to decide what we should wear! It was so challenging. And then when it was time to take the photos it was so hard to know where to put my hands and how to stand. I was surprised by this because I know everyone struggles and I guide them. I expected to know how to handle it, but I really was relying on Jen's eye and instruction! It really helped me to see how important my role is during a session. Jen did a wonderful job! It was great to exchange a mini session with her and photograph her family.
Here are a few images from my birthday-
We may not be picture perfect people, but we are who we are, and that's perfect! I will treasure these photos. I am so glad to have had the experience, it was a great way to celebrate. Thanks for reading!
