Hello, it's my, Rosalind, Owner of Dekaios Designs LLC.
I am a photographer and artist in central WI. As a business owner I have chosen to become a member of BNI, it's an international organization where businesses meet weekly and help each other grow and network. There is only one professional of each category in the group, I am the photographer of our group. Each week at BNI we stand up and give a 60 second presentation about our business and what we offer. It's like we are informing our "sales team" what they can help promote. Along with that, one member has the privilege of sharing a 10 minute presentation. Tomorrow is my turn for this presentation. I am planning to use this blog post to assist me with that and as a result you can enjoy this as well!
What is unique about Dekaios Designs LLC?
There are lots of great photographers in Central WI. What causes Dekaios Designs to stand out? I have been pondering this all day... like our fingerprints, no two are the same, no matter who you choose as your photographer or artist, the experience is unique.
If you are looking for a photographer that is down to earth, colorful, and natural, that's me. And just knowing that is what you are looking for makes you exactly who I love to work with!
As a person, and reflected in my business is that Dekaios Designs has had a lot of unique experiences. These experiences do affect the way we photograph.
One thing is that we are very diverse. My mother is from El Salvador and my father grew up during the Depression in Indiana, those two things by themselves are just crazy. However, when I have the opportunity to work with different ethnicity or older generations, I do have a different understanding and so much sweet love for their lives and them being here in the Midwest. I not only feel a familiarity but I also have an interest in their backgrounds, it's part of what helps me to love what I do and I believe makes them feel comfortable.
When I was thirteen we traveled abroad and stayed with a host family for one month, this was so significant in my life that we have hosted just about 20 students in our home. Some for a month, others for a year, this goes right alone with our cultural-ness.
My father passed away in 2010, as a result no matter how many photos I have of him, they are not enough. I have always valued photography, but as a result of love and loss, I understand the value of it all the more. Life and the seasons in it are such treasures.
Dekaios Designs Photography captures life's moments, and loves to do it in a way that is meaningful.
Extended Family Photography. In a place that matters, the family farm.
The most important thing is catching a glimpse of the moments of life you are in. It is such an honor! We can't help but see it as art, we can't help but delight in the moment, and the memory that will be shared.
Photography is just one form of the art we do. We also paint, make jewelry, teach pottery, and re-purpose.
I home schooled my son from Kindergarten through seventh grade. We have always been a part of the home school community in Stevens Point. We still are. One way we are involved today, is by offering home school art classes. This is one of my students displaying her projects of the semester. Because of these classes we were fortunate to have acquired a kiln, we don't just use the kiln for classes. I also use it to re-purpose. You'll some dishes made from wine bottles pictured. The other day I also melted marbles into necklaces.
I love to take things with a story and add to it. These slides on this lamp belonged to my father, one way I can reflect is to admire my lamp, it is a combination of history and art.
What started the art journey for me as a child was lettering, drawing, and painting. I love to paint signs and windows. And to teach painting!
Dekaios Designs couldn't happen without the people we work with. Second shooters, photo assistants, painting assistants. Education- that wouldn't have happened without so much support from people who love us. Clients, especially Central Orthodontic Specialists who has been providing photography through Dekaios Designs for several years. People we have worked for and improved as a result, Michael's and Scene. Also, Rock N Roll Cafe, and other business'. The places we sell our art, Judah Studios, Agora, The Local, and Antique Up. Thank you so much for being a part of our business. Also, we are so thankful for the Rising Tide that encourages and connects fellow creatives, and of course, BNI who this presentation is for and has taught me to talk about this stuff in a much more fluid way.
Ways you can continue to support and encourage us...Think of us when you want to decorate! Be it with family photography of your own, or art. Also, keep us in mind when you hear of engagements. We can be photographers, provide fun bachelorette's, even bridal gifts and signage. We are here, when you are looking for some fun entertainment like wine and canvas parties. And to capture the memories!
